Open Floor

“A lifetime of Movement, Meditation and Therapeutic Work rolled into one set of Beautiful Workshops”

I am open to invitations to travel anywhere globally, supporting you and your group in self enquiry, meditation, movement and dance. The work I offer provides deep healing for participants and leaves them with beautiful, rich and life-changing experiences.

I completed the Open Floor International Teacher Training in 2017 which pulls together all the aspects of my previous embodiment work.  The rigorous, emotionally intelligent training supports &  underpins all my offerings.

You can read more about my journey that informs this body of work in the NBK page.

“The Open Floor Dance practice with Neil in Costa Rica was absolutely fun and liberating. The opening part gave us space to set intention and trust in others and ourselves, which later grew into complete freedom of expression and movement for the rest of the session. It was a refreshing feeling to be able to connect to others without use of words, just through that ever-present essence within each of us which is there once we drop our masks of personalities and roles. Thank you, Neil.”

Jivamukti Yoga Barcelona, Olga Oskorbina, Costa Rica.

What is Open Floor ~ The Bare-Bones

Open Floor is a dance meditation and personal development practice for building physical and emotional intelligence, mindfulness and connection to your soul. By practicing expressing through the core movement resources and the 4 x 4 weave both listed below my aim as an Open Floor teacher is to support you to become more skilled and willing to challenge your own status quo in the range of responses to life’s ups and downs. The dance floor is our laboratory for exploration and the opportunities to learn through making mistakes with kind and caring people. Knowing ourselves deeper and being willing to take risks as we learn and grow is key to life both on and off the dance floor.

4 x 4 Weave

  • 4 Dimensions of Embodiment. Our physical body, our emotions; our mind and our soul.
  • 4 Relational Hungers. How we relate to solitude; connection with another; belonging to a larger group; and spirit (our relationship to a sense of something larger than ourselves).

Core Movement Resources

Grounding, Centre, Release, Towards and Away, Activate and Settle, Dissolve, Spatial Awareness, Expand and Contract, Vector & Pause.

How many People in a Workshop?

3 – 25 Participants. With one person to be the organiser of the program. I suggest to start with the “Taster” program and go from there!

Organiser

The responsibility of the organiser is to make contact to discuss the feasibility of me running a workshop, along with dates and any other practicalities. Once we have established that we wish to go ahead, we will lease closely; before, during and after the workshop. The organiser is also in charge of gathering participants, hiring the venue and sound system if required, supplying yoga mats, cushions and deciding how the finances are split between the participants within the group etc. I always suggest a "potluck" lunch arrangement, so that everybody contributes and feels part of something, where possible. If individuals wish to be alone they can take their food away and find a place for silence and reflection, but the main space will be kept available for everyone.
